Boarding and Daycare,
Loyal Companion is a family owned full service facility committed to providing your pet with the best care possible. Whether you need boarding, grooming, training or daycare, the staff at Loyal Companion will treat your pet as though it belonged to them. Our half acre grassy play area, as well as our spacious, climate controlled boarding kennel, will ease the tension and stress associated with boarding pets. We also have a separate "quiet room" for the smaller breeds who do not cope with the sometimes noisy kennel. We also offer a quality daycare program where your pet is carefully placed with a suitable playgroup. These groups are supervised and undergo a daily schedule that includes multiple trips outside and snacks throughout the day.

Our prices are much lower than most of our competitors. We are able to do this due to a large, steady stream of customers, which have been patrons of the facility since 1975. We know the costs associated with operating a facility such as this, and are not out to gouge the consumer with numerous hidden costs, exorbitant prices, and gimmicks associated with facilities such as this associated with other facilities that are out to extract every dollar they can from their faithful customers.

Cleanliness,
The facility has been under renovation and some very substantial changes have taken place. Almost every room in the facility has undergone significant improvements. Keeping our facility clean, and your pet comfortable, is our primary goal. Staff are constantly cleaning and sanitizing the entire facility. Bedding, food, and water bowls are changed and cleaned on a daily basis. Runs are scrubbed and the outdoor play are is sanitized twice a day.

Matt Skogen,
the owner and Master Trainer at Loyal Companion, has been certified in obedience training as well as a canine behavior specialist. He is also a certified police dog instructor. Matt has served as an evaluator for the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen Program, and served as the President of the Heart of America Police Dog Association. He also continues to instruct police agencies for the Vom Kaiserhofe's Police Dog Seminars and the SGS Working Dog Seminars. He is presently the lead police dog trainer for a large metropolitan police department and has been in law enforcement for the past twenty years. He has trained hundreds, if not thousands, of dogs since 1995, when the Loyal Companion Obedience School was first founded. Even though he has been certified as an obedience and behavior specialist, he continues to certify himself through other associations to further his credibility as a trainer. Matt sums up his training style as fun, fair and firm as necessary. He also believes a good trainer must be flexible and adapt different training styles to conform to the needs of customers and many variables that affect dog training.

Matt,
has always had his working dogs perform at a high level. He has had many successes on the street and has competed at a high level in various competitions. He credits his love of dogs and ability to understand them for his success. Matt says, "There is no room for cowboys in dog training. I believe if you relate well to dogs, you should never resort to barbaric training methods. There are smarter ways of training that some do not understand. A lot of trainers may know how to train dogs, but simply do not relate and adapt as necessary to deliver the desired results."
